Green Brooklyn! 500 Building Community Retrofit NYC Case Study

Brooklyn Neighborhoods

BlocPower partnered with the NYC Mayor's Office of Sustainability, Con Edison, National Grid, and Neighborhood leaders to green 500 multifamily buildings in Brooklyn.

About this project

The New York State Government asked Con Edison to find ways to reduce over 40MW of peak electricity consumption in Brooklyn, in order to delay a $1.2Bn upgrade of a local electricity transmission sub-station, named Brownsville #2. BlocPower was hired by the New York City Mayor's Office of Sustainability to partner with community groups to reduce energy consumption and encourage affordable housing preservation for 500 5 to 50 unit multi-family residential buildings in Central and East Brooklyn.

BlocPower finished the project one year ahead of schedule.
